Season Tickets for Charity was started as the result of a few fans of Blackburn Rovers from afar who wanted to support the club by doing more than buying a kit every season. A few fans brainstormed on how they could not only purchase season tickets but also not have them go to waste. The idea was then to donate these season tickets to a charity through Rovers.
The local charity contact that Rovers works with was glad to help in this distribution. So far these tickets have been given to Women’s Aid, Blackburn and Darwen Social Services, Young Carers and Action Mentors groups with more to hopefully follow. The list of donors range from the United States to Australia and to England as well. We are hoping that the club not only benefits from a few more voices to sing and cheer the team on but also for future fans. The children have all had a great time as made evident from the feedback that is given after every match. “..the children were thrilled to have the opportunity to experience Rovers at first hand!” – Lucy, Blackburn Darwen and District Women’s Aid worker, after the August 18 match against Arsenal. “..the kids were ecstatic as this was their first time to a real football match!” – Gena, Action Mentors project coordinator, after the September 2 Man City match. “The family was thrilled to have the opportunity to watch the match and really appreciated the effort to arrange everything.” – Vivien, Blackburn Darwen and District Women’s Aid project manager, after the September 23 match against Portsmouth. “Thank you very much for the Rovers tickets! Our family that went really enjoyed themselves, and it was even better when Rovers won! Again, many many thanks as your generosity does make a difference to our young carers and their families.” – Karen, Young Carers project coordinator, after the October 7 Birmingham match.
